Post Closed College
Okay my turn to rant. I have back problems, they stem from weak back muscles and a bad fall I took a few months ago but thats all besides the point. The way you treat back problems of this type is removing stressors that can cause inflammation which lead to a flame up or spasm. The things they recommend are getting a new mattress, a completely ergonomic desk, ect. Now flash forward to college dorm life. We don't get to pick the furniture. This means if there is a problem we cannot replace a part. It is complete closed source. We can bring certain things in but you are stuck with the big ones; bed, dressers, and desk. Now I dont know what the solution is since I doubt having ever student furnish their own apartments would be a great idea but man I currently feel like I am living in a cookie cutter.

that sucks. its also true for hotels. i dont want to pay the tens of extra dollars for their super shiny mirrors or the pretty carpet on the wall or the butler that says "hello", but no choice. good thing i've learned about hostels, but even then there's going to be excess stuff that i don't need that i'd end up paying for.
anyways, it all ultimately comes down to the money, so that's why they do what they do.

And you could stay at a motel 6 or something. Though usually you're trading $$ for safety, not the tv etc. I love hostels! Best one ever: Highlander Hostel in Inverness Scotland. I'm glad I had that opportunity around England (though staying in a B&B in Stratford upon Avon was a kick in the pants).

b&b's are usually small establishments with < 10 private rooms that give you a full breakfast :D. They're more expensive (even more so than many hotels), but tend to be really friendly and helpful. They tend to be run by older couples etc.

The rain while you're there isn't a problem. Its the rain and wind on the ferry that makes your time interesting :D.
