I'm stoked about this. Any idea when handbrake will have transcode support?

Yup great news. I for one want flash to die! I have since removed it from my computer and will not be playing any flash stuff. Great cause with this I'll be able to watch youtube without it!

Oh, the other great thing is that support will be built into the browser. So no plugins or anything will be needed!

Huzzah! Hopefully MPEGLA doesn't sue for patent infringement.

I've checked out the beta and like what I see. Google announced that they will eventually convert all their videos to WebM so all we have to do is wait.

As far as the patent thing goes Google has said they have gone over it and are confident it doesn't violate any patents. I doubt they would just go and do something like this hap-hazardously so I'm sure they will be fine.

Whether or not they have violated any patents, MPEG-LA is going to try to spread rumors that they have in order to discredit the codec. Hopefully Google's name pulls it through.
